"Custom IP" or domain name Skriv ut

  • 1

We get a lot of questions daily on how to get a "Domain IP" and have it setup to connect to user's Minecraft servers.  A "Domain IP" is using a domain name (something.com) to redirect to the actual server IP to connect to the server.  Do note that this is NOT changing your IP, but giving an extra means of connecting to the Minecraft server.  If you're looking to get your own domain, feel free to use NameCheap via https://www.namecheap.com/domains/registration.aspx?aff=83103 to get your own domain!

Once you have the domain and want "yourdomain.com" to connect to your server, follow these steps to have your domain connect to your server:

Domain > Manage Domains > Click on "yourdomain.com" > All Host Records >

HostName: @ > IP Address: Server IP without port > Record Type: A (Address)

HostName: www > IP Address: Server IP without port > Record Type: A (Address)

If you want to setup a "sub-domain IP" such as "something.yourdomain.com" follow these steps:

Domain > Manage Domains > Click on "yourdomain.com" > All Host Records >

HostName: something > IP Address: Server IP without port > Record Type: A (Address)

If your server does NOT come with the 25565 port (i.e. dedicated IP), you can order one here OR make sure to do this additional step after completing either guide above:

Domain > Manage Domains > Click on "yourdomain.com" > All Host Records

Scroll down to the "SRV SETTINGS" section

Fill in the following:
_SERVICE = _minecraft
_PROTOCOL  = _tcp
PRIORITY = 0
WEIGHT = 0
PORT = your server's port
TARGET = the domain IP URL that you just created for your server's IP in the above two sections
